Several articles have told that Splenda/Sucralose started off as an insecticide. I even found it some years ago on a web site under insecticides but as soon as I pointed it out it was removed and added under sweeteners. Here is one of the best articles on Splenda: http://www.theecologist.org/investigations/health/268764/life_after_aspartame from the Ecologist.

Pepsi has now admitted that aspartame causes health complaints and originally objected to adding it to carbonated drinks in the first place: http://www.rense.com/general96/pepsi.htm

To add aspartame back to Pepsi is leaving themselves wide open as they have admitted the dangers. In their protest before they lobbied for NutraSweet they said: Aspartame is inherently, markedly and uniquely unstable in aqueous media. Searle used the wrong solution and the wrong tests but still the National Soft Drink Assn (now American Beverage) admitted the dangers and even stated: "The questions posed by Dr. Wurtman are significant because of the seriousness of the potential effects (e.g., changes in blood pressure) and because of aspartame's anticipated widespread use - use that includes consumption by potentially vulnerable sub-groups, such as children, pregnant women and hypertensives."

They obviously knew about the birth defects and in original studies aspartame caused neural tube defects, spina bifida and cleft palate for starters. No warning for pregnant women is on aspartame so these women can sip Diet Pepsi and have children with autism ( http://www.whilesciencesleeps.com ) if they survive at all because aspartame is an abortifacient. http://www.rense.com/general/asp.htm

The FDA admitted in 2009 they were broken. So writing the FDA is useless because you might as well be writing Big Pharma. However, I believe letters should be written to Pepsi to let them know the world now knows about aspartame and many now know about Splenda. I called "Just Like Sugar " to see if they had been in touch with Pepsi and was told Pepsi didn't want to spend more money for a safe sweetener.

Pepsi thinks they can raise their profits by going back to aspartame because it’s addictive but they will see more declines as more and more get off diet drinks as well as soft drinks because Coke and Pepsi can't be trusted. They have known for 30 years this is a chemical poison.

Dr. James Bowen said, ".. Aspartame disrupts fetal development by aborting it or inducing defects. And if a live child is born, aspartame may have heinously damaged the DNA of the baby curing future generations. "

What alcohol does to the fetus is well known. I noticed in the beer section of the grocery store they have a product titled "Best Damn Cherry Cola" 5.5% ALC./vol. 12 fl.oz On the side of the bottle it states: "Government Warning: According to the Surgeon General Women Should not Drink Alcoholic Beverages During Pregnancy Because of the Risk of Birth Defects." In aspartame is free methyl alcohol. This is the wood alcohol used during prohibition that blinded and killed thousands. In l986 the aspartame issue was taken all the way to the Supreme Court because of the seizures it triggers and the blindness from the methanol. The FDA claimed at a meeting they were ready to take it off the shelves.

However, then there was the problem with the judge and it wasn't removed. The aspartame industry has great power, just look at the way it was approved. After the FDA tried to first indict them and then revoked the petition for approval, Searle hired Don Rumsfeld who used political chicanery to get it on the market. Dr. M. Alemany who did the Trocho Study that showed the formaldehyde converted from the free methyl alcohol embalms living tissue and damages DNA, said aspartame would murder 200 million. Coke and Pepsi both know about the Trocho Study and ignore almost 100 per cent of independent scientific peer reviewed studies that show the problems.

Please pass this on around the world. All people need to know the pop companies have been poisoning the public with aspartame and now Splenda/sucralose for over 30 years. As it says on the back of Dr. Woodrow Monte's book, "While Science Sleeps: A Sweetener Kills":

"The introduction of aspartame into the food supply of the United States began in the summer of 1981. Since that time, the incidence of Alzheimer's deaths has increased 10,000%. Autism has, with no explanation increased 2500%. Autoimmune diseases have reached epidemic proportions, with Lupus (SLE) up 300% and Multiple Sclerosis, Type !! Diabetes and Rheumatoid Arthritis headed out of control. Cancers, the hallmark of formaldehyde exposure, have exploded. Skin cancer has shot up over 400%, liver cancer has tripled, kidney cancer has doubled, and breast cancer is up 50%. The list goes on ....

"This book explains to the average person the fascinating process by which methanol, a poison hidden in aspartame and some other foods, is converted to formaldehyde at the very locations in the human body where these diseases originate, revealing, for the first time, the exact details of the probable cause of each. It is a cautionary tale of the legacy of the danger of a poisonous food additive and the failure of a government, corrupted by greed, to safeguard the health and welfare of its people."

Some years ago an informant told me the National Soft Drink Association did a 10 year study on aspartame that showed Alzheimers, birth defects and blindness. Having run into someone who worked with them I mentioned this. She got very upset and said, "You couldn't possibly have those studies."

Look what aspartame has done to the world, and even sucralose/Splenda, which started as an insecticide. Isn't it still?

I have gotten a lot of calls from Augusta, Georgia. Paige Kaiser who lives in Augusta told me they were using aspartame toxic waste to spray crops and asked me why. I told her that aspartame is systemic neurotoxin and would kill the bugs just like it kills people. The last conversation I had with her some years ago was that the city made them stop because of the odor. A lot of people call it a pesticide and I told the company they could make just as much money selling it as rat poison. The Augusta, Georgia aspartame factory no longer makes aspartame. As more and more people find out aspartame is a chemical poison they stop using it.

If you go to "Images" on google you can put type aspartame and click. Normally you would see good images of a product if it were safe. Notice in the images on aspartame you see everything from skull and crossbones to tumors. Pictures that warn that aspartame is poison. That's how well known it is. Even books on aspartame have titles that advise the public, "Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic", Roberts, "Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills", Blaylock, "While Science Sleeps: A Sweetener Kills", Monte, "Aspartame: The King of Toxins", Burch ..... it’s all a matter of record. Aspartame is a killer and google has millions of articles on these unsafe sweeteners.

Read every label and never let a day go by you don't pass on a warning to prevent death and disability from these deadly sweeteners.

Let Coke and Pepsi know they are fooling nobody and people are getting away from pop because of what they have done with full knowledge. Read on below about Splenda.

A serendipitous tasting of a chlorinated sugar compound by insecticide researchers in 1976 resulted in Tate & Lyle patenting the non-nutritive sweetener sucralose, in 1976.

At about 320 to 1000 times the sweetness of sucrose, three times the sweetness of aspartame and twice as sweet as saccharin, sucralose is stable under heat and over a broad range of pH conditions, and it can be used in baking or in products that require a longer shelf life.

By 2008, sucralose had been approved for use as a sweetener in food by more than 80 countries. As media reports of correlation between cancer and aspartame consumption in rats (but not in humans) proliferated and sales of diet drinks dropped, PepsiCo announced that in April 2015, it would be moving from aspartame to sucralose for most of its diet drinks in the US.

Just over a year later, the company has announced it will be bringing back aspartame-sweetened Diet Pepsi in the US this coming September and will be selling both aspartame- and sucralose-sweetened versions of Diet Pepsi.

In its effort to bolster sales of Diet Pepsi, PepsiCo ran into two problems. The first: many drinkers were shifting away from artificially sweetened diet drinks, sending sales nose-diving. The second: those who remained ardent fans liked the taste of aspartame and didn’t like sucralose.

US retail sales of Diet Pepsi fell 10.6% in volume terms in the first quarter of 2016; its soda market share fell 0.4 percentage points to 4.1% in the period, according to industry tracker Beverage Digest. Sales of Coca-Cola Co’s Diet Coke declined 5.7% over the same period. Diet Coke has a 7.4% soda-market share.

Sales of diet soda drinks in the US have dropped by nearly 20% since reaching a peak of $8.5 billion in 2009, according to market research group Euromonitor, and are expected to continue to slide. In contrast, sales of energy drinks are expected to grow from $12.5 billion last year to $21.5 billion by 2017, according to the market research group Packaged Facts. Meanwhile, since the mid-1970s, US consumption of bottled water has surged 2700%, to 38 billion litres in 2013, according to the Beverage Marketing Corporation.
