I congratulate the American Academy of Pediatrics for wanting pop machines to be removed from schools. But I would like to discuss the real reason. Obviously, too much sugar is not good for you but I grew up as a teenager before the days of aspartame when people were slim. It is aspartame that has caused this epidemic of obesity. First of all, its a neurotoxic drug and not an additive and in the protest of the National Soft Drink Association which was made part of the congressional record, it was even mentioned that it made you crave carbohydrates so you gain weight and was not a diet product. Even more important is that aspartame destroys the brain as a study showed in Norway.
